When my boys were young they loved comic book super heroes. And I, who loved comic books too, encouraged them. In fact, for Shaun's fourth birthday he held a costume party in which his friends came dressed in super hero costumes. One boy came as the Green Lantern. Not only had he borrowed his mother's jade ring--without permission--he lost it in the grass. Such was the origin of this book, my first novel.
