Wise words

Ted Geisel
Ted Geisel (Dr. Seuss) half-length portrait, seated at desk covered with his books / World Telegram & Sun photo by Al Ravenna, 1957. Library of Congress Prints and Photographs Division. New York World-Telegram and the Sun Newspaper Photograph Collection.

My daughter passed this on to me,  attributing it to Dr. Seuss:

So the writer who breeds
more words than he needs
is making a chore
for the reader who reads

That’s why my belief is
the briefer the brief is
the greater the sigh
of the reader’s relief is.
